TT Mbha continues to spread joy through Mzansi Home Makeovers

If there is one positive we have all taken from the pandemic, it is that being at home as much as we have has encouraged many of us to invest more time and money in improving our homes. With more than half a million viewers on its season one debut, the second season of Mzansi Cribs Makeover is the perfect place to get inspiration.

Channelling the spirit of Ubuntu, the show celebrates everyday South Africans who have had an extraordinary impact on the lives of the communities around them. Sponsored by Builder’s, the show gives deserving people who have been nominated a home makeover.

“All across the country you see examples of South Africans whose hearts are bigger than their wallets. Who give with two hands, expecting nothing in return. We wanted to give back to these unsung heroes and do our part to let them know that their contributions to their communities do not go unseen,” said Senior Manager of Integrated Campaigns at Builder’s Roshana Burnett.

The show was the brainchild of property mogul and socialite TT Mbha who said that the idea for it came from spending his childhood in Soweto watching people who did good for their communities be overlooked.

Mbha said “I have always been fascinated by real estate and watching how these home makeover shows would transform people’s homes, especially people who really deserved it. It made me think of my own upbringing and wonder why we couldn’t bring that same concept here to South Africa. Getting Builders saw our vision and were eager to lend a hand which was wonderful for us given their expertise”.

Burnett added “Helping on this project made perfect sense for us because as a proudly South African company we are always excited to give back”.

To that end Builders are one of a few sponsoring materials valued at over R600 000, with products such as paint, tools and decor items to ensure that these homes are beautifully refreshed.

Burnett concluded “Ultimately, the best part of being involved in this project is bringing joy to South Africans who do so much for others. We hope that the show will encourage others to look around and see how we can all help each other make the country a better place”
