Why Is My Sassa Grant Still Pending?

Why is my Sassa grant still pending? The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has explained what ‘pending’ status on your Sassa Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant application means. Many SRD grant applicants have received a ‘Pending’ status on their Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant and some are not sure what it means. Sassa said that pending means that your your application has not yet been approved, your details still need to be screened and verified first. Once approved, you will receive an SMS from SASSA requesting your banking details, then you will be paid. Yes, there is no set payment date for the special COVID-19 SRD grant.

“As part of the SRD R350 grant process, the SASSA has to validate each beneficiary’s payment monthly to ensure payment is made to applicants who meet the criteria. This verification process does cause a delay in the payment process as we have to verify 10 million applicants monthly.” – SASSA said on Facebook

SASSA Status Pending Bank Details

If your application status says ‘bank details pending’ it means that your application has been received by SASSA but no banking details or payment preferences were received. If you would like for your application to be updated and changed, you must upload your banking details.

Once approved, you will receive an SMS from SASSA requesting your banking details, then you will be paid.

It does not mean SASSA has declined your application for the R350 Grant. You can visit https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status to check your SASSA R350 status and learn more about why your Sassa grant is still pending.
