2016 kicks off with a new thrilling local drama Heist! TX: Tuesday, 9 February 2016 at 9:30PM

The e.tv prime time local drama slot is set to be packed with more quality local dramas in the new year. Setting off an exciting 2016 line up is the new local action thriller currently being filmed in Alexandra township, Heist. The drama debuts on e.tv on Tuesday, 9 February 2016 at 9:30PM.

This year e.tv brought viewers intense local action drama with the first season of, Z’bondiwe. It enjoyed the attention of over 2 million loyal viewers during the 9:30PM prime slot. Heist debuts in the same slot, straight after Traffic.

Heist is a story inspired by the recent heist that took place at a Stadium near Soweto in 2013 during an international concert. The series is set in and around Alexandra and attempts to portray the social challenges faced by many South Africans on a daily basis. The drama is produced by Branded Soul, who recently worked on e.tv’s rural drama Matatiele.

Speaking about the filming process of the drama, the Director Rolie Nikiwe said, “We’re in the process of filming and it’s amazing to see it come to life. To watch everyone bring their “A” game to this process keeps me on my toes”.

This captivating drama series is grounded in truth. It focuses on a bunch of misfits that decide to pull a heist immediately after a concert at a stadium. When an old man gets fired from his job of more than 20 years at the stadium, along with his counterpart, they walk away with no pension and no dignity. Unexpectedly, the counterpart commits suicide and this triggers the old man’s anger as he is now out for justice and revenge. The old man then forms a gang of five men and one lady to assist him in that one last big hit.

“Consistent with our desire to be the entertainment destination of choice for everyone. The channel will continue to ensure that our viewers are kept entertained. Local story telling is a key pillar for our prime time line up and we are committed to deliver an innovative mix of programming able to resonate well within our broad audience base. Our viewers are in for a fascinating 2016 prime time line up” says Monde Twala, e.tv Managing Director of Channel Division.

Viewers will be glued to their screens as the pursuit for money starts to change the gang. Faced with different social challenges, the gang will eventually turn their backs on each other. Proving that a life of crime never pays off, or does it? They will be delighted with the experienced actors that will appear on e.tv come Tuesday night 9:30PM from 9th of February 2016.
