AKA signs distribution deal for WWE snacks

South African award winning rapper AKA has expanded his business interests by claiming a stake in Chilewe Brands, a company that has gained a WWE branding licence.

Speaking on the “Power Lunch” show on CNBC Africa on Tuesday, the rapper AKA with CEO of Chilewe Brands Global, Mike Chilewe have announced that they have officially signed a distribution deal for WWE branded snacks on the African continent.

These World Wrestling Entertainment products are being made available in South Africa and the African continent. Hip Hop Star AKA and CEO of Chilewe Brands Global, Mike Chilewe join CNBC Africa for more on their new business venture.

In the video, the rapper mentioned that he is responsible for the brand and marketing management of the product while Chilewe Brands Global handles the distribution and production.

“I’m a big wrestling fan and it’s always been a big part of my childhood. So when a opportunity like this comes around I really jumped at it,” – the rapper said on why he got involved

Chilewe said that when they were looking for someone to partner with the new venture AKA was the first person that came to mind.

“Thanks to @cnbcafrica for having us on the #PowerLunch earlier today. As a life long fan of the @wwe it gives me great pride and excitement to announce our OFFICIAL licence to distribute and manufacture beverages and snacks IN AFRICA 🌍 Coming to a store near you! (sic),” – AKA wrote on Instagram
