Award-winning actress Shoki Mokgapa passes away

South African actress Shoki Mokgapa has passed away at the age of 34. According to Channel24, her cause of death is not yet publicly known.

The talented young actress made several TV appearances in series ranging from the second season of Ashes to Ashes on e.tv, Intersexions, Swartwater and Those Who Can’t on SABC2 to the British BBC series, Silent Witness.

Shoki Mokgapa won a SAFTA award in 2017 as best actress in a feature film for her role in the Afrikaans film, Sink for which she also won the best actress award at the kykNET Silwerskerm Film Festival.

“We are extremely sad to hear about the passing of Shoki Mokgapa. Everyone here at CMP loved working with her and she will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time,” – Clive Morris Productions paid tribute on social media.

SABC3 Isidingo also took to Twitter to pay tribute, saying: “We are saddened to hear of the passing of award winning actress Shoki Mokgapa. May you rest in eternal peace 🙏🙏 #RIPShokiMokgapa (sic).”
