The actor left the show in 2016 after he was rumoured to have an affair with fellow cast member Dawn-Thandeka King. However, the star dismissed the rumours and said they were untrue.

In an exclusive interview with East Coast Urban’s Thandolwethu earlier this year, Bongani told the radio station that nothing ever happened between him and Thandeka King who plays Lindiwe “MaNgcobo” Xulu and that they remain close friends.

Speaking to DRUM Magazine two years ago, he explained that he was shocked and surprised and he didn’t expect to be fired from Uzalo. “I got a call from the company saying my services were no longer required. It wasn’t my decision,” – he said at the time.

“I’ve done quite a few acting gigs and it’s been a challenge to keep jumping from one job to another. I think I should be granted the privilege of getting a job and staying there for a long time – not just for me, but for the storyline and the viewers. It pains me that I have to come to this decision but I don’t act for fame, I went to school for it,” – he added.

The star is expected to make an appearance in November.
