Catching feelings out in cinemas

Locally produced feature film, Catching Feelings, is now showing at various cinemas across the country. The film was written and directed by Kagiso Lediga who also plays a lead role alongside Pearl Thusi.

“Catching feelings is a dark romantic comedy which follows an urbane young academic and his beautiful wife, as their lives get turned upside down when a celebrated and hedonistic older writer moves into their Johannesburg home with them.”

Other actors include Akin Omotoso, Zandi Tisani, Andrew Buckland, Precious Makgaretsa, and Kate Liquorish.

Kagiso Lediga said he wanted to create a film that made fun about Johannesburg because it was a place full of contradictions.

“It is Africa’s business capital and culturally diverse with a very messy recent history. I find it fascinating that the 30-something, black, middle class characters portrayed in this film never existed 20 years ago because it was essentially illegal to be black and middle class and I guess it would also be impossible to engage in angst ridden, existential navel gazing when you’re fleeing tear gas and rubber bullets from the Apartheid cops,” – Kagiso said in a statement.
