CCBSA Back to School drive for Limpopo learners in full swing

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA), is proudly committed to supporting education initiatives in the areas it operates and empowering the younger generation to be equipped for success. In the famous words of the late icon Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. As part of the 2024 CCBSA Limpopo Back-to-School campaign, 120 learners from Gerson Ntjie and Masobe Secondary schools, received scientific calculators, geometry and stationery sets so they can be well equipped to tackle the year ahead. These selected Grade 11 and matric learners who study pure Mathematics can then prepare adequately to fulfil their academic requirements and attain good results.

CCBSA is passionate about creating shared value through supporting education initiatives particularly in the communities in which it operates. Nathalie Hendricks, Public Affairs and Communications Manager: North Region at CCBSA, said: “We fully support this Back-to-School initiative with our partner, Limpopo Department of Education so that we can provide opportunities and tools for young people to set them up for success, while ensuring they have adequate resources to reach their full potential.

It is our intention to build our country’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) capability by supporting our matriculants enrolled for Mathematics and Science. Our back to school campaign this year, focuses on providing deserving learners with tools such as calculators, and maths sets required to prepare for their finals. By supporting them, we ensure that they are properly prepared to tackle the year ahead and set them up for great matric results. Improving their marks will also enhance their chances to secure university acceptance and study assistance,” she said.

Gerson Ntjie Secondary school is a beneficiary of the Ligbron System funded by CCBSA and has experienced a significant improvement in its matric results through the success of this programme. This Ligbron system is a state-of-the-art classroom technology system where students from rural and underperforming schools can be remotely connected using interactive whiteboards and audio/video streaming. enabling them to share live video lessons and training material. The teachers are then able to source and share additional teaching material to assist students with other subjects.

The District Director for Capricorn South Education District, Ms Nkuzana who also attended this handover ceremony expressed her thanks to CCBSA for the support towards education initiatives.

“Thank you CCBSA for investing in our learners through this initiative. You have shown us that you do not only focus on selling beverages but are also committed to providing opportunities for the younger generation that will become the future leaders of tomorrow”, she said.

Hendricks added: “This initiative is in line with our Study Buddy Fund, which supports deserving learners from across South Africa. She added that CCBSA was actively involved in a number of initiatives that seek to elevate and equip matriculants, high school learners and university students for success as future leaders. The Study Buddy Fund provides financial and holistic support to indigent students who meet entry requirements for access to higher education institutions. For the 2024 academic year, the Fund will pay for the tuition and accommodation fees of deserving students in communities which CCBSA has operations, with a particular focus on the following areas but not limited to: Mdantsane/Motherwell/Phoenix, Inanda, Ntuzuma, KwaMashu/Greater Eldorado Park Community Forum (including Freedom Park and Motsoaledi)/Tembisa/Greater Nigel/PTA West Ward 55/Westenberg- Seshego/ Alabama and Mangaung.
