Vth Season artist Eternal releases South African cover version of hit single Maradona

Vth Season’s MTV Base trained music producer, composer and recording artist, Eternal, has just released a South African cover version of Niniola’s hit single Maradona.

South Africa’s appreciation of Afro-Beat House, Eternal pays tribute to Niniola and features Eastern Cape born, 2017 The Voice SA contestant, Amanda Faku, on the vocals to bring the current Metro FM Top 40 number 1 single to life with Xhosa vocals.

This Nigerian and South Africa collaboration has garnered positive reviews online and has already been playlisted on radio stations such as Ukhozi FM and Lesedi FM, with an expected first play on Metro FM this week and on 5FM’s Party With PH this Friday.

“When I first heard Niniola’s Maradona, I fell in love with the instrumentation immediately. It’s been an exciting process recreating the sound. Thank you to Amanda Faku who did a great job on the Xhosa vocals, and thank you to Raphael Benza and the team at Vth Season for helping me execute my vision to perfection.”

“It was a real privilege to work on this track with Eternal. And of course, respect to Niniola – love her work and I hope we did the song justice,” shares Amanda Faku.

Mentored by VIACOM Media Networks Africa’s (MTV, MTV Base, BET, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon) Executive Director, Alex Okosi, Eternal is a breath of fresh air in the music industry. Having already worked with the likes of the late Robbie Malinga, Nick Soul, Phila Faya, Zandie Khumalo, Mjakes and Lungisa Xhamela just to name a few, the music industry can expect to hear a lot more from Eternal in the near future.

“Eternal is a super producer and his SA cover version of Maradona is just testament to his versatility and ability to recreate music from scratch. There’s some great music the country and greater African diaspora can expect from Eternal this year. He’s one of our newest music signees and we look forward to creating magic with him,” shares Raphael Benza.
