The owner of Gesh Lounge and Entertainment booked the Durban-based musician Mampintsha for The Weekend Shutdown on 29 December but the musician didn’t pitch.

Ndlovu told Daily Sun that the singer told him that he was booked for another gig in Empangeni and didn’t mind coming to Gesh Lounge afterwards. He demanded that he pay R20 000 before the event.

He told Daily Sun that he initially paid R10 000 on 20 December and Mampintsha said he must make a poster with his face on it, which he did.

“A day before the event he demanded that I pay the remaining balance, otherwise he wouldn’t come. On the same day, 28 December, I paid another R10 000.” – he said

On the day of the event, Ndlovu received a call from Phila, a man who claimed to be Mandla’s colleague. He told him that Mampintsha was lost. “Phila said Mampintsha had been performing at an event in Stanger and disappeared after the performance” – he said.

Ndlovu, who waited for Mampintsha, who did not pitch to the event, was forced to refund people their money. He paid R100 to every one who had a tag.

Daily Sun attempted to get hold of Phila and Mampintsha but could not be reached on their phones and did not respond to text messages and WhatsApp.
