The executive mayor of Ekurhuleni Clr Mzwandile Masina announced earlier this year that the Germiston Art Theatre will be named after the slain actor Dumi Masilela.
Dumi Masilela was killed in August 2017 after an attempted hijacking gone horribly wrong in Tembisa.
TV presenter and actor, Zola Hashatsi has announced that the process is already under way with the Ekurhuleni Mayor, Mzwandile backing the movement.
“We have started a process of renaming the Germiston Theatre after our late Icon Dumi Masilela. We honor his artistic talent and we hope this gesture will go a long way in healing the family and the Industry at large. We plan to open the State of the Art Theatre end of May 18 (sic),” said Zola Hashatsi on Instagram.
The state-of-the-art theatre will open at the end of May 2018.
