Gugu Mbatha-Raw Graces Cover Of British Vogue

English actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw has made her British Vogue cover debut for the April 2018 issue. Gugu, whose mother is an English nurse named Anne Raw and father is a South African doctor named Patrick Mbatha, is one of few black women who’ve featured on the iconic fashion magazine’s cover.

In 2015, the magazine was criticised for not featuring enough black models on its cover.

The BAFTA-nominated star began her career on the stage playing the eponymous protagonist in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. A triple acting threat, Gugu has gone on to star in both television series and Hollywood blockbusters – earning wide recognition for her role in Doctor Who.

Taking to Instagram, Gugu captioned her photo “So delighted to share my first VOGUE cover!”
