How to Deal With Your Family on Facebook

You love your family. Certainly everyone does. But when it comes to involving your family in your public activities like you do on Facebook, you feel a little awkward, don’t you?

Advise Your Friends

As soon as you post something on your timeline you happen to see quick comments from your close friends. If those commenters are your classmates or colleagues, you will more likely see casual and coarse words. It’s ok for you, but you never know how your family would react to this. So notify your friends about their comments before anyone in your family does this.

Don’t Post Offensive Pictures

Facebook is quite friendly to you. All that you do here is alright if it’s limited to you and your close mates. If you upload a picture that shows you smoking together with some buddies, then it raises a credibility issue against you. Your parents will be the first to attack you with words.

Jokes Are NOT Part

I mean “Jokes are part” does not hold true when whatever you write on Facebook just for making fun goes to the notice of your parents, or grandparents. You and your friends might take it as a fun statement, but parents don’t.

Tagging is Problematic

Facebook’s photo-tagging feature causes lots of problems especially when you are least aware of tagging. Login to your Facebook profile and change settings related to photo privacy and tagging options.

Don’t Involve More in Politics

Politics, though discussed by people of all ages, doesn’t belong to all. It might offend you if you have least knowledge about politics, yet write something in a discussion on Facebook since your posts are readable by all. It’s an offense for your parents as well if they’re little conservative.
