On Thursday, 6 December 2018, IMBEWU: The Seed was watched by almost 4.2 million viewers, achieving an audience share of over 41%.

At a recent media event, hosted by show stars Leleti Khumalo, Thembi Mtshali-Jones and Fundiswa Zwane, the channel committed to hitting the 4 million mark. In turn, over 4 million South Africans tuned in to watch the fallout last week, after KaMadonsela turned her family’s private affairs into public shame, with a dramatic reveal.

Produced by Anant Singh, Leleti Khumalo and Duma Ndlovu, IMBEWU: The Seed started broadcasting in April this year and has quickly built a loyal audience. Set in KwaZulu-Natal, the production has helped to develop the region’s television production industry. When the show launched, Khumalo said, “We wanted to tell authentic stories about people in Durban, and its rich and colourful diversity. We decided to do that than right here in our vibrant city, at iconic and recognisable locations and employing local people as cast and crew.”

The show’s authentic approach and riveting storylines have resonated with viewers around the country.

“We have worked closely with the team at Grapevine Productions to ensure that we produce a brilliant show with compelling storylines,” says e.tv’s head of local productions Ziyanda Mngomezulu. “We thank the production team, the cast and the crew for delivering a great show and look forward to reaching greater milestones in the future.”

The drama is set to continue throughout December as KaMadonsela seeks retribution for the big betrayal.

IMBEWU: The Seed airs every Monday to Friday at 9.30PM on e.tv (Openview channel 104, DStv channel 194).
