Khabonina Qubeka’s #KhaboYoga Tour Goes International

Popular South African award-winning actress, choreographer, TV host and the first South African to release a fitness DVD, Khabonina Qubeka has always had a passion for fitness. She is a firm believer that a healthy lifestyle is an important one and spreads the positive message fitness has on one’s body and mind. Now, she is taking her passion for yoga to the next level as she heads out on an international tour where she and YogaRaj are conducting the first ever #Mandela100Yogathon in Hong Kong, with the assistance of Brand South Africa and the South African consulate in Hong Kong.

The aim of the tour is to spread the message of health and fitness and its importance – especially in children. The star continues her mission to educate the country about the powerful attributes yoga has on a person and Khabonina will showcase how yoga specifically has changed her life.

“Travelling the world gives you a glimpse into how other people live. I’ve seen the effects yoga has had for countless people in many countries around the world,” Khabonina says. “Yoga has especially become popular in African countries and I want to make a deeper impact with my travels by showcasing the ability to self-heal through the medium and its importance. I’m excited to teach the continent how to use yoga to their benefit.”

Although Khabonina’s main focus is making an impact around Africa, the first leg of her journey will see her visit Hong Kong after she was extended a special invitation by Guinness World Record holder YogaRaj to participate in the Afro Asia Yogathon. Khabonina will visit the Asian country from 27 March to 4 April where she will spearhead the first ever #Yogathon100ForMadiba – an event in support of the Nelson Mandela Centenary. The Nelson Mandela Centenary’s programme represents the focal point of the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s strategy to elevate the legacy and memory of Nelson Mandela and everything he stood for.

“Yoga Raj must have obviously seen my yoga work, was impressed and decided it would be great to join heads and run this first ever Yogathon for Madiba in Hong Kong,” Khabonina explains. “I’m so honoured to be participating in this exciting project.”

After her visit to Hong Kong, Khabonina will be jetting off to Botswana between 26 and 29 April where she will run a fun Health Fitness Africa session for the communities. The star will introduce her KhaboYoga by running a Health Fitness Africa session which will incorporate traditional and modern dancing styles alongside various fitness exercises and yoga. The workshops will include various healthy food talks, how to curb diabetes and obesity and the power simple yoga workouts have on one’s body.

The third stop on Khabonina Qubeka’s ‘KhaboYoga’ tour will be in Zanzibar, Tanzania between 21 and 28 June 2018. Khabonina will also be hosting a Yoga Fun retreat where families and couples can join her at a private resort and learn more about this exciting medium.

Naturally, Khabonina will also be spreading her message in and around South Africa. The star is planning some exciting events around the week of the 18th to the 26th of July 2018 and is excited to share her knowledge at home as well. She will be visiting a variety of schools where she will be speaking to children about the importance of fitness and how living a healthy, active lifestyle now will have a massive impact on their bodies in the future.

“I feel the need to share this yoga experience with the community – especially the children,” Khabonina continues. “Yoga has a deep history in North Africa. It’s a place Kemetic Yoga was born. I want to show children that the idea of yoga isn’t a foreign one and how beneficial yoga is for African children. The health benefits are imperative and it is a message I feel strongly about.”
