e.tv kicks off with season two of the reality TV series, Mahadi-Lobola . The thrilling series follows the families of lovers as they negotiate lobola. Season two will air from Sunday, 24 January 2016 at 6.05pm on e.tv.

Mahadi-Lobola showcases both the complex and celebratory processes in which different cultures in South Africa participate during the lobola negotiations. Viewers can look forward to experiencing all the family drama that comes with lobola negotiations, unscripted and unpredictable. The series reflects Mzansi’s diversity in this long-standing tradition. The viewers will discover the dos and don’ts of other South African cultures.

“When we commissioned season 1 of Mahadi-Lobola, we wanted to showcase an African tradition which is largely misunderstood. The show is entertaining and authentic reality TV series suitable for family viewing on Sunday evenings. Mahadi is a showcase of South Africa’s indigenous heritage.” Says Managing Director for e.tv Channels, Monde Twala.

Season 2 will still be narrated by Gontse Nteshegang, who has previously played Elizabeth in e.tv youth soapie Rhythm City in 2011. Each Mahadi-Lobola episode will introduce the bride and groom as well other contributing characters in their lives such as uncles, aunts, mothers and fathers. We follow them as negotiations take place, and family members sometimes bantering over the value of the lobola, women preparing the feasts and the outcome in the end.

“Urban Brew Studios is highly excited to bring the second season of Mahadi-Lobola. This is a celebratory show that showcases the richness of our diverse heritage. In the show we continue to explore how families create relationship through the cultural institution of lobola. The show deals with the subject in a dignified, respectful and authentic way” says producer Khulile Nxumalo.
