SASSA Grant January Payment Dates

SASSA Grant January Payment Dates have been confirmed by South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). As a SASSA grant beneficiary, you may be interested in knowing when your grant will be paid. Knowing the correct payment date will help you plan and manage your January money wisely. SASSA distributes grants including SRD R350 Grant, Child Support Grant, Care Dependency Grant, Disability Grant, Older Person’s Grant, just to name a few.

All the above mentioned grants are paid out to beneficiaries every month. SASSA begins distributing these permanent grants on the second day of every new month. However, if the second day of a month falls on a weekend or public holiday, grants will be distributed on the following working day.

R350-a-month grant extended until March 2024

R350-a-month grant has been extended until March 2024.

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced that the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant is being extended for an additional year until March 2024.

Presenting his medium term budget policy statement to Parliament, Godongwana said: “The SRD grant was introduced in May 2020 as a temporary measure to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable who were affected by lockdown measures. It has been extended several times since then. Discussions on the future of the grant are on-going and involve very difficult trade-offs and financing decisions.”

These grants are aimed at the poorest South Africans, on the brink of destitution and hunger.
