  • Period (e.g. December) Declined: This means that your grant application was declined for the period and the reason is provided. You need to submit a request for reconsideration via the SRD DSD website should you feel that the reason is invalid.
  • Cancelled: This means that your grant has been cancelled. If you wish to reinstate the grant, you may do so on the Sassa SRD website.

How Do I Apply For The R350 Grant?

If you want to apply for the SDR grant, you need to check if you are eligible to qualify. If you are eligible for the grant, you will get the Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) amount of R350 per month from the moment it is authorized by the issuing authority. About Sassa And The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant)

In April 2005, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), a national government organization, was established with the responsibility of distributing social grants to deserving people on behalf of the Department of Social Development. The department of social development can only look after the SASSA but has no control over its operation. Additionally, it was created to move South Africa’s provincial governments’ responsibility for social security to the national level, and its reporting to the Department of Social Development (DSD). The processing of applications, application verification and approval, grant distribution and payment to qualified beneficiaries, quality assurance, and fraud prevention and detection are the parastatal’s primary duties.

The South African government now offers financial assistance to citizens, refugees, holders of special permits, and asylum seekers through the Social Relief Stress Grant (SRD Grant).
