Weskus Annas: Crowned Champions of Ultimate Braai Master Season Four

Weskus Annas wins season four of Ultimate Braai Master, South Africa’s biggest cooking competition after a heated finale on Sunday, 13 December.

The pair walks away with a R500 000, 00 cash prize, a Suzuki SX 4 and a trip to compete in the World Food Championships in Florida.

Competing in the finale were Weskus Annas, Flying Boar, team Sparkle and team Skoot. The four teams competed head to head in the three stages of sudden death in order to impress the judges for the last time and clinch the top prize of the Ultimate Braai Master.

Braai Master Piet Marais and his Braai Buddy John Grundlingh from Weskus Annas in Cape Town, returned to the competition for the second time this year after they were eliminated in the early stages of season three.

“Winning the competition will definitely make our dreams come true. Coming back into the competition for the second time, was not as easy as we thought it would be. Our fellow contestants came with the same fighting spirit and proved to be tough competitors”, said Piet Marais and John Grundlingh from Weskus Annas.

“We are proud of team Weskus Annas, for rising above all to impress our unyielding judges. Through their persistence, dedication and determination, the pair are living a testament of the old proverb that if at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again”, said Monde Twala, Managing Director at e.tv.

The first and second runners up also walked away with impressive prizes. Team Skoot received a R30 000, 00 travel voucher from SA Tourism for competing and a R15 000 travel voucher to donate to Oranjekrag Middelbare Skool. Flying Boar won R100 000, 00 travel vouchers from SA Tourism for competing and becoming the 1st runner up.

“This season of Ultimate Braai Master was one of the best so far. The contestants fought hard until the end and it was a very close call.Through determination, Piet and John were consistent throughout the show. We are proud that they came back and this time around took the prize. Though in the competition there can only be one winner, we would like to give recognition to the runners up, Flying Boar as well”, said Peter Gird, Executive Director at Cooked in Africa.
