The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant)

The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) is administered in terms of section 32 of the Social Assistance Act, 2004 (Act No. 13 of 2004) and is implemented with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance. The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) is meant for South African Citizens, Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Special Permit Holders who are between the ages of 18 and 60 years, who have insufficient means, who do not receive social grants on behalf of herself/ himself or who are not contributing to or eligible for UIF payment, and have no financial support from any other source.

To check your Sassa r350 grant status, follow the below steps:

  1. Go to https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status
  2. Enter your ID Number and Cellphone Number
  3. Click ‘Submit’
  4. View your Sassa status

Sassa Pending Applications Status

Pending means your application has not yet been approved, your details still need to be screened and verified first. Once approved, you will receive an SMS from SASSA requesting your banking details, then you will be paid.

Sassa R350 Payment Dates

There is no set payment date for the Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant). Approved without a payday means: If your Sassa SRD grant is approved but no pay date is given because SASSA has not processed your R350 grant payment yet. SASSA has to process your payment before you are given a payment date for your Sassa SRD R350 grant. Once SASSA processes your payment, you’ll see your payment date when you Check Your SASSA R350 Grant status.

What To Do If Your Sassa Status Check Failed

Who Qualifies for Sassa SRD Grant?

  1. A South African Citizen, Permanent Resident or Refugee registered on the Home Affairs database and persons who are holders of special permits under the Special Angolan Dispensation, the Lesotho Exemption Permit dispensation and the Zimbabwe Exemption Permit Dispensation, and asylum seekers whose section 22 permits or visas are valid or were valid on 15 March 2020;
  2. Currently residing within the borders of the Republic of South Africa;
  3. Above the age of 18 and below the age of 60;
  4. Unemployed;
  5. Not receiving any social grant in respect of himself or herself;
  6. Not receiving an unemployment insurance benefit and does not qualify to receive an unemployment insurance benefit;
  7. Not receiving a stipend from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme and other financial aid;
  8. Not receiving any other government COVID-19 response support.
