Zonke Dikana is currently in the USA on a short business trip while supporting the premiere of her music video this week following the launch of her single Reach It last week. Asked about her recent experience in LA, Zonke elaborated saying “… on this brief visit I have had the opportunity to spend time with family as well as attend to business. I have also been able to make a turn at The Recording Academy to hand deliver my music in time for Grammy entry. There are a few key meetings scheduled with agents and a last stop at the Sony office before heading back home to prepare for my album release.”
“The music video for Reach It was a creative collaboration with director Mzi Kumalo – my vision for the music video was to bring my audience into a space where they can appreciate the power of authenticity – there is nothing pretentious about the video – it is as direct as the message.”
“If we ever stopped motivating each other we’d be doomed. I don’t want to imagine a world in which we cease motivating one another. Today, it’s all about who you know in order to get that job interview or opportunity break. Kids grow up thinking you just have to be well connected, the concept of dreaming and working hard towards reaching them sounds like a myth to them. I was not well connected and nothing was ever handed to me – I worked hard and believed in me!” – Zonke
