Thuso Mbedu is once again nominated for her role as Winnie in the second season of the Mzansi Magic drama, Is’thunzi.

The SAFTA award-winning actress has been nominated in the Best Actress category and will go up against other actresses from Germany, Brazil and the UK.

“Wow, look at God! To be nominated twice is amazing. The first time was great but this second time is sweeter. I am blessed to have worked with such a great team and am humbled to be representing South Africa and the talent that it possesses at the awards ceremony,” she said in a statement released by her management.

“Yesterday I posted a pic of myself on Instagram. I wanted to say “#WCW the last time I woman crushed myself I got an iEmmy nomination” but I got scared. I didn’t want to feel like I’m boasting or whatever. So I didn’t caption it that way. Meanwhile, God knew. My second nomination (sic),” – Thuso captioned her photo on Twitter.

Mbedu is the third South African to ever be nominated and the only African nominated across the board at the 46th International Emmy Awards.

The 46th International Emmy Awards ceremony will be held on 19 November at the Hilton Hotel in New York.
