American actress and singer known for her Tony Award-winning performance in the Broadway production of Caroline Anika Noni Rose will be in the country.
‘Dreamgirls’ star Anika will be joining South Africa’s A-lister’s at the Masters Polo 2018 event taking place on the 3rd of March at Val de Vie Estate.
Anika also voiced Tiana, an African-American princess in Walt Disney Pictures’ 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog. In 2014, Anika played the role of Beneatha Younger in the Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun, for which she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play. She was named a Disney Legend in 2011.
Rose is familiar with Africa. She spent months in 2009 in Botswana filming the award-winning mini-series, “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency,” alongside Jill Scott, Idris Elba, Desmond Dube, David Oyelowo, and John Kani.
