The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), which is responsible for distributing grants and allowances to vulnerable South Africans, has released the payment dates for May. If you are a Sassa beneficiary or know someone who receives these grants, you may be interested in knowing when you will collect your May Sassa grants.

In May 2023, Sassa payments will be made from Wednesday, 3 May 2023 starting with the SASSA Old Age Grant. The Older Persons Grants are paid from the 2nd day of the month. Sassa has confirmed that the grant payment dates for May 2023 are as follows:
- The Older Persons/ Pensioners Grant (as well as any grants linked to these accounts) will be paid on 4 May 2023.
- The Disability Grant (as well as any grants linked to these accounts) will be paid on 5 May 2023.
- Child support grants, as well as all other grants, will be paid on 8 May 2023.
There is no fixed payment date for those who receive their Sassa R350 SRD grant payments through the bank account.
Sassa has also said that there is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed.
