There’s a host of wacky, wonderful characters coming to Ster-Kinekor this May, from the imperfect but endearing Ugly Dolls, to the wise-cracking yellow Pikachu (in 2 and 3D), and the world’s most beloved blue genie, who’s helping a street hustler win the love of a princess.

Yes, Disney’s classic Aladdin is back on the big screen, this time in live action and starring the inimitable Will Smith as the genie. Aladdin will be releasing in 2D, 3D, D-Box and at IMAX, making it even easier for kids to escape into a fantasy world of enchanted caves, magic lamps and flying carpets, thanks to the immersive experience that IMAX provides.

Alternatively, catch the latest children’s releases at one of Ster-Kinekor’s dedicated Kid’s Cinemas, which can be found at Sandton City, Fourways, Centurion and East Rand Mall, where your children will love the colourful beanbag seating and special waiting area. Ryan Reynolds is the voice of Pikachu, a talking Pokémon who wants to be a detective. He teams up with Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) to unravel the mysterious disappearance of his father, ace detective Harry Goodman – only to discover a plot that threatens the Pokémon universe. Releasing 17 May in 2D, 3D and D-Box.

  • Stolen Princess

In an age of valiant knights, beautiful princesses, and battling sorcerers, Ruslan, a wandering artist dreaming of becoming a knight, meets beautiful Mila and falls in love with her – little suspecting that she is the King’s daughter. Releasing 17 May.

  • Aladdin

A live-action retelling of Disney’s 1992 hit, Aladdin stars Mena Massoud as the street hustler who falls in love with the strong-willed Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott) and enlists the help of a genie (Will Smith) in his bid to win her love. Aladdin releases on 24 May 2019 to 2D, 3D, D-Box and IMAX.

  • Big Trip

A goofy stork mistakenly delivers a baby panda to the wrong door. A bear, a moose, a tiger and a rabbit set on a difficult but fun-filled adventure through wilderness to return the panda to its rightful home. Big Trip releases on 31 May 2019 in 2D and 3D.

  • Ugly Dolls

Released earlier this month on Ster-Kinekor’s big screens is Ugly Dolls is an animated adventure in which the free-spirited Ugly Dolls confront what it means to be different, struggle with a desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that what matters most is who you truly are. The “greatest musical comedy of doll time” released on 3 May in 2D.
