I didn’t know SA was stressed about The Daily Show – Trevor Noah

Trevor Noah has confessed he’s glad he never knew how anxious South Africans were about his debut on The Daily Show.

Speaking to Metro FM’s DJ Fresh on Monday morning, Noah said he was surprised when his friends told him people were hoping and praying that he wouldn’t “drop the ball”.

“I’m glad I didn’t know how stressed South Africans were. The pressure I had on America’s side alone … I wouldn’t have handled it if I knew South Africa was looking the same way.”

He says he’s grown enormously over the past two years.

“I’ve had to change, I’ve had to work on myself as a human being. I’ve engaged in politics like never before, I’ve probed every aspect of my mind. I think more than I used to, I apply myself more than I used to. I’m proud to say I’ve grown as a person.” – he said.

After agreeing to meet a young woman via the Reach for a Dream Foundation, Noah said he’s happy to make someone’s day. “Those are small things. If you can make another person’s day by just existing, you’ve lived your life.”

On Friday night Noah surprised guests at the Goliath Comedy Club in Johannesburg with a performance. Noah is performing at The Dome on 9, 10 and 11 August.
