Kwesta is one of the leading SAMA nominees with 5 SAMA nominations

South African award winning Hip Hop artist and songwriter, Senzo Vilakazi popularly known as Kwesta, is one of the leading nominees for this year’s South African Music Award (SAMA) 23 with 5 SAMA nominations credited to his brand and critically acclaimed album, DaKAR II.

Kwesta has received SAMA nominations in the below categories:

  • Best Male
  • Album Of The Year (DaKAR II)
  • Best Rap Album (DaKAR II)
  • Best Collaboration (Ngud’ ft Cassper Nyovest off DaKAR II)
  • Best Collaboration (Mayibabo ft DJ Bucks, Okmalumkoolkat & DJ Maphorisa off DaKAR II)

As one of the strongest players in the Hip Hop industry since releasing DaKAR II, Kwesta’s 5 SAMA nominations come off the back of the recent success of his latest radio single released off DaKAR II titled Ngiyaz’fela Ngawe. Ngiyaz’fela Ngawe took the coveted number #1 spot on the Metro FM Top 40 chart this past weekend and the music video, which is Kwesta’s most personal release yet, has clocked over the 1 million views mark since its VEVO release just a few weeks ago.

Kwesta’s 5 SAMA nominations come as no surprise and are well deserved as his DaKAR II album was selected by iTunes and Apple Music as the winner of the Album of the Year for South Africa in 2016, and the album has released five Top 20 radio singles including smash hit single Ngud’ featuring Cassper Nyovest which became a theme song across all demographics in South Africa.
