Lorna Maseko meets Loot Love and Lucille Slade on Homegrown Tastes SA S2

Look out for brand-new episodes of Homegrown Tastes South Africa S2 with Lorna Maseko, Loot Love and Lucille Slade – Wednesdays at 8PM and Thursdays at 5PM on BBC Lifestyle (DStv channel 174).

In Episode 6 (Wednesday 12 April), Lorna Maseko and Luthando “LootLove” Shosha meet up in Gqeberha, at a special take-away spot, to pick up one of Loots favourite foods; Magwinyas. Lorna and Loot then head to the beach to enjoy them, before driving to one of the region’s most famous food destinations, the Nanaga Farm Stall and head into the kitchen to make chicken livers with the Eastern Cape’s favourite sauce, Ibhisto.

To find ingredients for the main meal, Lorna heads out to sea for some South African squid, or Chokka, and travels inland to collect some fresh Eastern Cape milk to make Amasi. At the Nelson Mandela bay Yacht club, Lorna prepares a whole sizzling squid stuffed with a curried cabbage, and served with a green “Umgqusho”. Lorna and loot finish the meal off with a delicious Amasi cheesecake.
