Musician and DJ, Prince Kaybee has fired a verbal missile at former Johannesburg mayor, Herman Mashaba on micro blogging site Twitter.
Mashaba, who is the founding President of the seven month old political party ActionSA, had responded to a tweet on allegations of racism against news station eNCA when Prince Kaybee (real name is Kabelo Motsamai) called him “dom.”

The 2020 SAMA album of the year winner was not alone in calling out Mashaba for sympathising with racism. Several twitter users also weighed in, many of them labelling Mashaba an Uncle Ruckus, a reference to the African American character on the satirical television show, The Boondocks.

eNCA racism allegations
Recently, eNCA came under fire when one of their news reporters — Lindsay Dentlinger — interviewed FF Plus leader, Pieter Groenewald during the national budget speech. The white interviewee fielded questions without bothering to wear a mask as a cautionary measure against the prevailing coronavirus. Immediately after concluding the interview the same reporter interviewed a black politician — Nqabayomzi Kwankwa, UDM deputy president — whom he immediately requested to wear a mask. The preferential treatment given to Groenewald sparked outrage on Twitter.
I am ready to sleep in a jail today. eNCA management must come out and tell us why they think black bodies are the only carriers and spreaders of the Corona virus! #eNCA #LindsayDentlingerMustFall #eNCAMUSTFALL pic.twitter.com/Z59uQjZbe4

#eNCARacism: @eNCA has defended its racist treatment of UDM Deputy President Nqabayomzi Kwankwa. No surprise there.
Arrogance and racism, what a combination.
We will take this up with BCCSA and SAHRC today.@UDmRevolution @N_Kwankwa pic.twitter.com/C5tf6v6yWQ

The friend zone shrinks for Prince Kaybee
Even though this was not an isolated incident, eNCA has refused to apologize and defended their reporter for the blatant inconsistency in the interview approach to blacks and whites. Several twitter users called for DStv subscribers to block the channel on their satellite decoders and YouTube.
Dj’s from the apartheid era are going through a culture shock🤣, things have changed. People have a VOICE now, I love it here❤️.

With South Africa’s general elections just three years away, it is a fair guess to assume that the Gugulethu hit maker will not be placing his X against Mashaba’s name in the polling booth. At the time of publication, Herman Mashaba had not responded to Prince Kaybee’s “dom” remark which is just as well because the celebrated DJ has had years of Twar practise.
Prince Kaybee is not a stranger to Twitter wars. The Friend Zone producer last year famously beefed with rapper Cassper Nyovest and just this morning, after jetting back from East Africa, the 31 year old musician unleashed what other twitter users called a “violent” subtweet at deejaying legends whom he called “apartheid era DJs” in a possible reference to numerous sexual abuse allegations made against older record spinners.
