England play the former continental champions, Denmark, tonight at the delayed Euro 2020 tournament, and Prince Kaybee will not be watching.

South African beat maker and deejay, Prince Kaybee (real  name Kabelo Motsamai) has labelled the England men’s soccer team “boring”.

Prince Kaybee who is not only known for producing chart topping songs, is also notorious for his scathing twitter commentary. In 2019 Prince Kaybee called rapper Cassper Nyovest a “Roberto Carlos,” in reference to the Tito Mboweni chanter’s physique.

Unbeknownst to many fans of his music, Prince Kaybee is also fanatical about the beautiful game. Quite recently he even received a shout out from South Africa’s most successful club coach, Phitso Mosimane, the current CAF coach of the year. Responding to transport minister, Fikile Mbalula, the two time winner of the CAF champions league tweeted:

South African soccer fans are known for their love for flair — “shoe shine and piano” — a skill oriented style, played with spoonfuls of “show me your number”, shibobo and tsamaya, and Prince Kaybee is no exception. Speaking of tsamayaring — leaving — someone on Twitter reminded Kaybee that all the flair football countries had already left the Euro tournament.

Illustrating his knowledge of the game, Prince Kaybee quipped back:

Last night, tournament favourites, Italy, avoided defeat by a resurgent Spain to book a berth in the final after a tense penalty shootout.  Tonight, England’s Three Lions, who are curiously named after an animal that does not exist in their frosty backyard, take on 1992 tournament winners, Denmark for the right to appear in the Wembley final. Despite the hype surrounding the England-Denmark clash, Kaybee will probably be in the studio cooking up another banger rather than watching the game.

Although Kaybee regards the pragmatic English style of play as “boring”, he probably prefers the country’s entertainment scene. The Gugulethu hit maker has previously toured England. Hopefully his latest comments won’t get him barred from entering the country in future.
