Somizi named first male ambassador for woman’s makeup brand

South African choreographer and radio personality, Somizi, has become the first man in Africa to be a brand ambassador for women’s make-up brand, Black Opal. 

The Metro FM host couldn’t wait to share the exciting news, he took to Instagram where he said he broke boundaries as he becomes the first African male to be the face of ladies make-up.

“Iconic moment. Boundaries have been broken. Ladies and gentlemen I’m honored to announce @blackopalsa personality The first male to represent a make up brand. #blkopalxsomizi when God shows up. He shows off,” – shared Somizi on Instagram.

Speaking to SowetanLIVE, Mhlongo said: “Being a face of a cosmetics company will give me a chance to bring a smile to their faces.”

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) activist and co-founder of the gay-friendly Feathers Awards, Thami Kotlolo, said: “The LGBTI is excited about Mhlongo’s achievement. It is groundbreaking, if you take into consideration that cosmetics are huge within the LGBTI community.”
