In May 2022, the South African Post Office announced that it will no longer be paying R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grants from the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa).
Those who have already reapplied for their R350 grant were advised to choose to collect their R350 grant from any Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite or USave stores.

One of the reasons that the Post Office stopped paying out R350 grants at their branches across the country is because of they were experiencing administrative and financial challenges which may have lead to their decision.

About Sassa Status Check for R350 Payment Dates for 2022
President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a National State of Disaster in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. In this regard the President introduced a Special Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD) of R350 to be paid to South African Citizens, Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Special Permit Holders who are between the ages of 18 and 60 years, who have insufficient means, who do not receive social grants on behalf of herself/ himself or who are not contributing to or eligible for UIF payment, and have no financial support from any other source.
The SRD Grant is administered in terms of section 32 of the Social Assistance Act, 2004 (Act No. 13 of 2004) and is implemented with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance.
The introduction of the SASSA R350 grant saw a large number of SRD SASSA applications being processed on srd.sassa.gov.za.
