Minnie Dlamini Jones Takes Russia

Media personality Minnie Dlamini Jones is currently in Russia in search of the coolest Russians to bring back to South Africa so that they experience the 2018 World Cup in South African style. 

Minnie Dlamini made the announce on her Instagram account: “we cooked up something crazy, something wild, because everyone says that the FIFA World Cup in South Africa was the best one yet,” Minnie Jones said in the Instagram video.

“Everyone says the Fifa World Cup in South Africa was the best one yet,” Minnie said.

The 21st installment of the FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15. The show-piece will take place at 12 different venues in 11 cities in Russia.

Fikile Kani graduates from NYU Graduate Acting Program

Fikile Kani

Lesotho-born South African actress Fikile Kani, best known for her recurring role as Zak, Rajesh Kumar’s efficient PA on Isidingo has graduated from NYU Graduate Acting Program.

Fikile is all about education, she also studied for a BA Film and Video Production at the University of Cape Town from 2009-2011 and did her Honours in Film Studies in 2012.

Her first starring role in television came in 2015 as the character of Ipeleng, a perfectionist questioning her seven-year-long relationship, in the Mzansi Magic drama series It’s Complicated.

Somizi named first male ambassador for woman’s makeup brand

South African choreographer and radio personality, Somizi, has become the first man in Africa to be a brand ambassador for women’s make-up brand, Black Opal. 

The Metro FM host couldn’t wait to share the exciting news, he took to Instagram where he said he broke boundaries as he becomes the first African male to be the face of ladies make-up.

“Iconic moment. Boundaries have been broken. Ladies and gentlemen I’m honored to announce @blackopalsa personality The first male to represent a make up brand. #blkopalxsomizi when God shows up. He shows off,” – shared Somizi on Instagram.

Speaking to SowetanLIVE, Mhlongo said: “Being a face of a cosmetics company will give me a chance to bring a smile to their faces.”

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) activist and co-founder of the gay-friendly Feathers Awards, Thami Kotlolo, said: “The LGBTI is excited about Mhlongo’s achievement. It is groundbreaking, if you take into consideration that cosmetics are huge within the LGBTI community.”

The Final Cut winner – Nasiphi Nthabeni makes her Isidingo debut

SABC 3’s talent search The Final Cut winner, Nasiphi Nthabeni, has made her Isidingo debut tonight as Cebisa. 

Nasiphi Nthabeni was one of four Eastern Cape finalists who went through in the competition. The young actress plays as Nina’s trainee in the criminal arts.

Nasiphi was born in Ngobo, Eastern Cape. She grew up as the only child, raised by a single mother who struggled to make ends meet. The family relocated to Cape Town in search of greener pastures.

Her mom passed away in 2004 (when she was 12) and she moved in with her aunt who was also struggling to raise her own six children. None the less, her aunt worked hard to make ends meet and was always loving and supportive toward her and her cousins.

Uzalo actor Siyabonga Shibe says he doesn’t get paid what he deserves, he is not paid enough money. 

Speaking to TshisaLive, the actor said artists are not paid enough in the crafts: “I remember I was on the taxi once and someone grabbed my hat off my head and said, ‘I know you! You are on TV, why are you riding in a taxi?’ I asked her what she did for a living and she told me she was a teacher. I said to her, ‘then why are you riding a taxi if you are a teacher? People don’t really understand that this is a career like everyone else’s. It is hard with that pressure.”

The former Gaz’lam actor says the industry doesn’t recognise their hard work. He feels like he’s working hard to deliver the best.

Mampintsha responds to Babes Wodumo’s abuse claims

West Ink Records boss Mampintsha has responded to claims of abuse which have surfaced against him during an interview on Metro FM on Friday.

In an interview, Metro FM host, Masechaba Ndlovu, confronted Babes Wodumo about allegations that the Wololo singer Babes Wodumo had been a victim of abuse at the hands of her long-time partner, Mampintsha.

After the story broke out yesterday, many South African celebrities and fans shared their views of Babes story. Her ex fiance, took to Facebook earlier to apologize to his fans and the public, saying: he wants to apologise to South Africa for disappointing them and discourage other men out there who may find themselves in my situation or different one that challenge their emotional stability and restrain.

“No man finds comfort in discussing his private affairs in the public domain. In particular his love affairs. It is out of respect for our supporters and the people of South Africa in general that I make a reaction to the public hysteria emanating from the interview on Metro FM in which Babes Wodumo was hosted. This interview and the revelation that I have been physically abusing her unfortunately occurs amidst a public outcry on the increasing incidents of violence against women and many of which in recent months have led to the killing of women by their lovers. As a public figure and a man i should be at the fore front of the campaigns against gender based and domestic violence. I am no saint, nor do i plead absolute innocence in the claims made in that interview.
