But UNISA has recently announced that they have re-opened the application period so that students are able to reserve their seat. Unisa has also confirmed the new closing date. Unisa Online Application Process
Applications are officially open on the 20th August 2019. There is now a five-week window for prospective students to register to study programme at Unisa, before the deadline closes on 27th September.
Step 1: Check Your Course Requirements
Check if you meet the admission requirements and the required academic points score for your chosen qualification. Each qualification is different and might require a set of points and subjects in order to enter. Research about the course and find out what it required to apply.
Step 2: Provide Valid Contact Details
Make sure you provide a valid email address and a cellphone number. The institution corresponds with applicants during and after the application process.
Step 3: Documents Required for Unisa’s Online Application
For the Unisa Online Application, the below documents will be required from prospective Unisa students. Upload only the required documents as individual files and not all the documents all at once. Make sure you have the below documents to apply at Unisa:
- Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate)
- Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID / passport (international students)
- Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
- Files must not be larger than 2MB (2048KB) each.
- Only black and white documents may be submitted.
- Only the following file types are allowed: PDF (Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format file), DOC (Word document file) or TIF (image file)

Step 5: Unisa Online Application Fee
All online applications to Unisa have a standard cost of R110. Your online application will only be accepted and processed once this amount has been paid. Even if you choose not to study at the University of South Africa, be advised that you cannot be refunded once you’ve paid.
When will I know if my Unisa application has been successful?
Once you have successfully submitted your application, wait for Unisa to let you know whether you have been accepted or not. You can also track your application status of your application via the Unisa website.
The closing date for undergraduate, honours and post-graduate course is Friday 27th of September 2019.
