Coming to America is a 1988 American romantic comedy film directed by John Landis and based on a story originally created by Eddie Murphy, who also starred in the lead role. Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) is the prince of a wealthy African country and wants for nothing, except a wife who will love him in spite of his title.

According to various sources, the new Coming 2 America sees former Prince Akeem (played by Eddie Murphy) becoming King of Zamunda when he discovers he has a son he never knew about in America, a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. In honour of his father’s dying wish, Akeem will groom his son as heir to the throne of Zamunda.

Murphy will produce the movie with Kevin Misher and Kenya Barris. Aresino Hall and James Earl Jones will also reprise their roles in the film helmed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow).

Coming to America 2 is scheduled to open in theaters December 18, 2020.
