Muzi Mthabela Leaves ‘Isibaya’ to Play Shaka Zulu

Actor Muzi Mthabela has confirmed that he is leaving Mzansi Magic’s Isibaya after being with the show for seven years. Muzi Mthabela played the character of Duma Ngema, who initially started out as inkabi (hitman)-carrying a gun all the time to someone respected and trusted to solve problems as a regent in the Ngubane Chieftancy.

In an interview with Move! Muzi said he left Isibaya on a good note and he is still going to be on television.

“I am only a channel away. I will still be in your lounges,” Muzi says. According to entertainment blogger Phil Mphela, Muzi is leaving Isibaya to play Shaka Zulu.

“Mzansi Magic has announced that the dapper star is leaving the role of Duma on the soapie to take on a leading role in a new project. I believe that new role is as Shaka on the up-coming MNet series “Shaka Ilembe”” – Phil tweeted

“Muzi’s leadership skills, passion and professionalism is impeccable. He is a respectful and loving colleague to everyone that he works with. Our relationship with Muzi doesn’t end now that he is leaving Isibaya, Muzi is and will always be a member of the Bomb production family,” – says Desiree Markgraaff of Bomb Productions

“I left on a good note. It is a bitter moment feeling because I created great relationships. Brothers like Sdumo Mtshali who have helped me become a better performer, such are brothers for life. And then it is sweet because, Duma has laid a foundation for me to explore characters,” Muzi adds.

“Mzansi Magic is excited for Muzi Mthabela on his new journey as a leading role in another production and wish him all of the best in his new endeavours” – Nomsa Philiso, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net said
