According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), a bench warrant is an inactive warrant of arrest. Should Matheba fail to appear in court on October 4, a warrant for her arrest will be issued.

“Should she fail to appear then a warrant for her arrest will be issued and she will be arrested wherever she is,” says National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane.

“As a state we had a challenge that the summons were not served personally to Miss Bonang Matheba but were, however, served via her legal team,” – NPA’s Phindi Mjonondwane said.

Generations: The Legacy actor Rapulana Seiphemo also appeared on Wednesday in the same court for tax invasion where his case postponed to October 18 for him to make representations to the office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP).

Bonang Matheba was to appear before the court on tax charges for both her personal tax liability and to represent her company. According to Business Insider, the court records report that Matheba is accused of not paying her personal tax between 2008 until 2017, and her company’s tax between 2014 and 2017 is also outstanding.

Last month, Matheba initially denied allegations of tax fraud after Sunday World reported that Bonang had allegedly landed in hot water with the law and was being investigated for failing to submit her full tax returns.

Matheba is currently in New York!
